| I am exactly 3 days away from Christmas break and that will be absolutely amazing. In the mean time, finals are controlling my life. The first semester at college has been great and fun. Somethings are different than what I was expecting. Don't ask me to explain because I really couldn't begin to describe "how" ....lol. All I can say is that its good to know I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. =) I'm pretty much addicted to the Peppermint hot chocolate from the campus coffee shop right now. I'm not going to even begin to hint how much money I've blown there over the last few weeks. It makes a great warm up for days like last Monday when it snowed for the first time (see the pic below).
In other news, I've started a political commentary blog recently. It gets updated about as often as my xanga, but if you have nothing better to do, check it out. and don't get too offended =) .
Right now I'm skimming through study abroad catalogs trying to figure out where I would like to go. U of R was recently named the "Hottest School in America" for its study abroad program...so there is a lot of pressure for everyone to go abroad for a semester (or Summer, like me). It'll probably be 2009 before I study anywhere else, but I needed a break from the library and this was on my book shelf. =P
As many of you know, I joined the Mock Trial team this semester and have been traveling across the country with them. It is a ton of fun.... I feel like I did when I fell for debate a few years ago. lol. The people I travel with are cool to hang out with and the competition is amazing. My favorite part: you get to interrupt the other team when they say something you don't like. =D
As a side note, Andrew McMahon and his boys, who collectively represent the band Jack's Mannequin (quite possibly my favorite band) is coming out with a new album in March. As expected, I am counting down days and listening to Everything in Transit to tide me over.
Well, thats all I have time for right now. Be good and don't get fat off of all the egg nog.

| "... if you pursue happiness you'll never find it."
And to tell ya the truth, I think happiness found me. =) SOME of us have been demanding an update on my life recently *cough* So here it goes ;)
School: This is probably the most time consuming part of my life right now, but hey, I'm having a great time. My public policy class is probably my favorite....and most challenging class. Sociology is pulling a close second.....heheh. The UR mock trial tournament is next weekend (October 19-20).....it should be a lot of fun.....ya'll should come out and watch =P . Intervarsity is the biggest Christian organization on campus and I'm finding myself right at home with a support group of friends (Lord knows I need it......heheheh.). The picture at the bottom is of the Westhampton Lake on campus. I'm really happy and blessed to be here.
Radix / Foundations Debate has been an incredible serving opportunity and I continue to be amazed at how God has worked out my schedule this year to make that possible. Everyone there is awesome and it's a blast to be a part of it. It's going to be a good year.
Life So I was talking to Kate the other day and she mentioned how she is starting a political blog of policy-related commentary to add to her resume. Anyway, thats a REALLY good idea.......so good, in fact, I think I'm going to steal it and do the same (hope ya don't mind, kate ;) ). Stay tuned for that. Law school is a very possible option (heck, it's a pretty likely option), but I don't have to make that decision yet........so I'm certainly not making any definitive choices yet. www.iwp.edu >>>That caught my eye, anyway =P
Thanks for ya'lls support and stuff......means a lot to me. I have a great circle of relationships and I can't wait to see where some of them go ;) .
Anyway, I'm off to hang out with some of the guys from small group Bible study at the Sauna and then go find some food at d-hall (No, it's not as queer as it sounds =P ). happy thursday.... love ya'll.

| Gimme a break.... college life doesn't allow a lot of free time ;) . It is thursday night and instead of going out and getting smashed like half of my hall just left to do, I am playing a multiplayer star trek game and updating my xanga =).
The last few weeks have been great. I miss mom, dad, and amanda and being "at home" a lot, but most of the people here are really nice and fun to be around. I can see God opening a lot of ministry opportunities for me while I'm here. Nothing incredibly huge (at least that I can see right now, lol), but just ways that I can interact and befriend people in a way that sets me apart through my faith. It's pretty exciting.
Okay, I don't wanna jinx myself or anything, because I've heard some horror stories from some of my other friends......but I REALLY like my classes and my professors. What do regular trips to the on-campus Starbucks, a Brookings institute research fellow, outdoor classes by the Westhampton lake, D-hall, and a trip to the mountains all have in common? My professors and the classes they run. It's absolutely amazing.
Amanda, Lacey, and Lucas all came to see me and eat dinner with me yesterday. Yes, it was a lot of fun and was made even more fun by playing DDR xD.

On another note, the debate season is gearing up and I'm really excited to ahve a course schedule that allows me to come and help with Foundations and Radix on Friday's. It's a ton o' fun and the ppl are pretty darn awesome ;). The last few weeks in general have been great. Many thanks to God, Hannah, Naomi, Kate, John, Amanda, Lacey, Lucas, Doug, Zhivko, Caleb, and Christopher. You guys rock. | | |
| Fact: The first week of classes is over. And I had a really good time. This is certainly a new environment, but hey, something new and fun. I like my professors and we will definitely have some interesting discussions lol.
Fact: It really stinks having school on a national holiday. Okay...as much as I like it here...I don't like it enough to be pleased about having class on labor day. Cookouts and a day at the pool are few and far between these days and I wish I was there!
Fact: I kinda miss my ppl. Alright, so guys aren't "supposed" to harbor that kind of sentiment, but I really do. Although.... this weekend was a blessing in that department and I really did enjoy hanging out with ya'll.
Fact: I got Caleb to stay up until midnight last night! w00t! I have finally succeeded and am now complete....mwahahhah.

| | Currently Listening Plans By Death Cab for Cutie Marching Bands of Manhattan see related | Yup...so I made it through four (4) days of orientation in Spidey town. And to tell ya the truth, I think I'm gonna like it here. Caleb is a good roommate...I just need to find a way to convince him that 9:30 pm is not "late" =P. I'm pretty tired though...last night our very last orientation event started at 11 pm and it was about 2am before I could get to bed....heh. I've made some pretty good friends on our hall and things are going pretty good (and quiet).
I went to one of the campus ministry events tonight and I was really impressed. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I met some other really good Christians who are committed and serious about their relationship with Christ on campus. It was a great encouragement to meet a group of friends who are like-minded and can offer support to each other.
Its late(ish) and I have classes tomorrow.....I'll post some pictures soon.
